Job Description

The EchoPark Human Resources Director is the senior human resources professional for the EchoPark Automotive business unit. The HR Director supervises three Human Resources Managers who together, will implement the HR policies and practices created by the company to insure the development and success of its associate base. Job responsibilities will include employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, training, legal compliance, administering HR policy and procedures, and benefits. The incumbent must possess proven organizational, interpersonal skills as well as the demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and confidential information in a professional, time-sensitive manner and a desire to work in a high-energy, fast paced environment.   
 
Responsibilities:
 
Recruiting, Hiring and Onboarding:
•      Oversee the recruiting effort of assigned dealerships to make sure dealerships are adequately positioned to attract, retain and develop quality operational talent.
•       Represent dealerships at career fairs and local technical schools.
•       Oversee the employment process for each dealership.
•       Ensure that established pre-employment due-diligence steps are administered for all finalist candidates.
•       Supervise the HR Manager in conducting formal new-hire orientation sessions.
 
 Training:
•     Train new and existing supervisors in company policy and procedures.
•      As requested, provide additional training for managers and other associates on special needs as identified by the regional and corporate leadership teams.
•      Orient and train and supervise Human Resources Managers in company policies and procedures related to onboarding, associate performance, benefits, payroll and career advancement procedures.
 
 Management, Development and Support:
•      Advise management regarding progressive discipline, performance improvement plans, and termination procedures.
•      Identify management development needs and assist in securing training in areas such as conscious leadership, preventing workplace harassment, compliance training for ADA, FMLA, etc., and proper interviewing, hiring and supervisory practices.
•      Oversee the performance management process to make sure all associates are being evaluated and coached in a timely manner.
•      Oversee the administration of Pulse surveys.
•      Develop and implement action plans in response to Pulse surveys.
 
Benefits Administration:
•      Ensure that HR Managers conduct benefits enrollment meetings for newly eligible associates each month.
•      Facilitate the resolution of benefits eligibility and claims issues that are escalated by the store level leaders.
•      Facilitate the annual open enrollment process.
•      Review 401(k) participation and assist in providing associate training and education.
 
Policy, Procedures and EPL:
•      Audit and insure that all pre-employment processes are being conducted appropriately at all company locations.  This includes background checks, reference checks, and drug testing among others.
•      Conduct investigations into EPL issues. Prepare investigation documentation; recommend corrective action when warranted.
•      Assist internal and external legal counsel with response to formal EEOC charges and litigation. Participate in arbitration or mediation proceedings as required.
•      Audit and insure that all dealership positions meet the federal wage and hour requirements.
 
Planning and Development:
•      Attend national HR Team planning/training meetings.
•     Attend and participate in assigned dealership budget meetings, associate satisfaction survey reviews and other meetings as requested.
  
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of progressively responsible human resources experience
  • 30-40% travel
  • Proven track record of building positive relationships with managers
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Superior customer service and client relations skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • PHR Certification preferred
